As one of Auckland’s most vocal advocates for the rights of the underdog, Richie has a long-standing keen interest in politics, which saw him studying the field at University. Richie was heavily involved in the 2014 general election, leading a drive to get young people to become engaged in politics and to make the effort to get out to cast their vote.
Richie is available to MC and facilitate political debates and events, as well as conduct interviews for radio and television .
Richie entered the world of radio in 2000 as host of the hardcore show on Auckland’s quintessential student radio station, bfm, and immediately fell in love with being on air.
In recent years, Richie has also been a regular fill-in host of the Nutters Club on New Zealand highest rating commercial station Newstalk ZB. The show focuses primarily on mental health and features guests and callers discussing topics such as drug and alcohol dependency, depression, anxiety and various other aspects of mental health issues facing New Zealanders.
Richie’s engaging manner and undeniable drive has seen him booked at a variety of public speaking engagements over the years. He’s shared his motivation and positive outlook to diverse groups including prisons, universities and youth forums.
Richie’s talks revolve primarily around his straightedge lifestyle and positive attitude, overcoming hardship and his belief that with the right support and dedication, any person is capable of overcoming the greatest of obstacles.
